Whitus Runs for Mayor of Farmville

Farmville town councilman David Whitus announced that he is running for Mayor of the Town of Farmville in the May 6th election. Long-time Mayor Syd Newman is not seeking re-election.

Whitus was first appointed to town council in 1998 to fill the unexpired term of newly elected Mayor Newman. Whitus has since been elected four additional times.

Part of his vision for the town is to continue building partnerships and bringing people together. He points to several successful partnerships including the town/county partnership involving the new library and the highly successful public/private partnership with the ICE facility.

Whitus, a graduate of Longwood University, plans to build on the town/university partnership for the economic good of the community. Whitus is Director of Administration, Marketing & Development at The Woodland after a twenty-five-year career in banking. He is married to Wanda Whitus and a member of Farmville United Methodist Church.
