SOUTHSIDE – The 31-year-old sister to Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo, who she helped escape from Piedmont Regional Jail, will not be allowed to return home until sentencing in October after asking U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles for this during a recent hearing.

Adriana Marin-Sotelo entered a plea deal and was found guilty. She was hoping to return to her home in North Carolina and be placed under house arrest, but the judge did not agree with this sentiment. She is also currently in the United States illegally according to reports and could face the punishment of deportation.

Adriana Marin Sotelo recently pleaded guilty this week to helping her brother break out of jail after he had been arrested in the shooting death of Wake County Deputy Ned Byrd in August 2022.

According to reports Adriana helped arrange a getaway car and park it outside the jail.
