Truck Rear-Ended at Railroad Crossing

accidentOn Monday, August 10 at around 9:40 a.m., James B. Beard, 40, of Keysville, was stopped at a railroad crossing on Hwy. 360 Business, just east of Old Kings Hwy. While waiting at the crossing, which had the signal and gate down for an approaching train, Beard’s vehicle, a 2010 Ford F150, was suddenly struck from behind by Charles D. Virgil, 23, of Charlotte Court House.  Beard was not injured in the accident. However, Virgil was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The 2001 Hyundai Elantra driven by Virgil sustained approximately $2,000 in damage and the 2010 F150 sustained $500 in damage. Virgil was charged with following too close. Trooper J.V. Bavely was the investigating officer in this incident.  By Italia Gregory
