Thelma J. Harding Obituary

Thelma J. Harding, blessed with 69 years, transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Thelma J. Harding, affectionately known as “Ms. Thelma,” was born October 19, 1952, to Walter W. and Mildred Hughes. She was preceded in death by both parents, along with a loving sister, Gladys L. Hughes.

Thelma was raised in Keysville, Va. and was a member of the Gill Hill Baptist Church, Keysville. She attended Randolph-Henry High School, Charlotte Court House. She worked at various restaurants throughout Keysville as well as Meherrin, until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and baking sweet potato and apple pies.

She leaves to forever cherish memories, three sons, Sylvester Hughes, Derek Harding and Jermaine Harding, all of Keysville; two granddaughters, Dominique Hughes of San Diego, Calif. and Mariah Harding of Keysville; two sisters, Connie Hughes and Charlene Hughes, both of Keysville; one brother, Herbert Hughes of Keysville; a handful of nieces and nephews; devoted friend, Diane Townsend of Keysville; other close and dear friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 6, 2021, 1 p.m., at Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, Keysville, with Rev. Isaiah Hurt officiating.

Wilson Funeral Home, Keysville, is serving the family.
