VICTORIA – A truck that was stolen in Victoria on November 29 between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. has been recovered.

The 2003 black Chevrolet Duramax diesel truck was stolen from a residence on Grove Avenue in the town and then was involved in a hit and run at a convenience store in the town. The thief then left the town in the stolen truck after the owner reported the truck being stolen to Victoria Police Department.

Officer King took the call about the vehicle and initiated the investigation. He found some evidence initially and upon review of tapes at the store, the suspect was seen buying items from the store.

Victoria Police Department released information on their social media sites and received a tip that led them to identify former Mecklenburg resident James Massa as a suspect. They then located Massa and were able to confirm that he had stolen the truck. The truck was recovered on Saturday morning around 7:00 a.m. near Twin Cemetery Road near the walking trail area.

Massa was charged with grand larceny of a vehicle and taken to Piedmont Regional Jail. There are other charges likely pending from the incident as well according to VPD officials.
