CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Randolph-Henry Statesmen hosted Cumberland on Friday night with both teams looking to pick up their first James River District win of the season. The Statesmen wasted little time establishing which team that would be as they jumped ahead 20-0 at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 26-8 victory.

The Statesmen got the offense going early as quarterback Peter Jones was on point through the air to Chris Redd, Justen Staten and Tyshaundre Walton. These air attacks helped the Statesmen take a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and into halftime as neither team surrendered a score in the second quarter.
The R-H defense was strong all night and pitched a shutout in the first half as Redd, Staten, Maurice Hurt and Isaiah Brown were the tackle leaders on the night.

In the second half each team picked up a fourth quarter touchdown to account for the final score of 26-8.

The Statesmen get a bye week this Friday.
