Masks or No Masks

To wear a mask or not to wear one!  What a dilemma!  This reporter thinks we are living in a perfect place at this time compared to the rest of the country because we can socially distance without a problem or either wear a mask when you are around more than two people.

This county has the lowest positive coronaviruses of any surrounding counties and we should try to keep it that way by wearing masks.  There are many folks wearing a mask and just as many, maybe, without one.  Heeding mandate signs while you’re out and about is a must!

I was amazed at the number of folks wearing a mask while in line in the hot, hot sunshine on July 15 at the tax office.  I thought, “That’s my kind of folks!”  They are adhering to government requests but most country folks I know like to follow rules.  Of course, there are always some who march to their own drum!

Just the other day, I was walking up the aisle in our local drugstore as a man came in and proceeded down the third aisle.  I politely suggested that he needed a mask and pointed to the inside sign.  All he said was, “I’m just picking up a Rx and besides, I don’t have one!  He could NOT have missed the HUGE outside sign or the large sign upon entering that clearly states, MASK REQUIRED WHEN ENTERING THE PHARMACY.  What’s wrong with folks?

I tip my hat to all those doctors, nurses, dentists, etc. who have been wearing masks for years, adhering to their profession.  Have you ever seen a surgeon without a mask?  Or, have you ever seen a nurse in an operating room without a mask?  I don’t think so!

Wake up, people!  This corona virus is nothing to be taken lightly.  This is serious business whether you like it or not.

I fully realize that my age group is among those really susceptible to getting the virus.  Hubby and I are alone in our home and only see a few people outside and that is with social distancing or a mask.

Our family has only seen each other by ZOOM and we really miss the fun we had together and the hugging and teasing.  Some of you are fortunate to have family nearby and that does make a big difference.

We get daily or almost daily phone calls from our children checking in on Mom and Dad.  We haven’t seen our grandchildren since this pandemic began but keep up through Facebook.

Remember the DMV rule of “Click it or Ticket”?  Well, the new motto will soon be “Mask it or Casket” if more people refuse to follow the corona virus guidelines.

No, it’s no fun to wear a mask but I’m not getting germs from your mouth and you are not receiving germs from mine.  Wearing a mask is the answer to keep this virus at bay.  Follow the news.  One can see the numbers rising from states who opened up businesses and bars too soon!

Here are six things to know if you think you might have the virus:  Itchy throat, dry throat, high temperature, shortness of breath and loss of smell.  Stay safe, use hand sanitizers and wash your hands often!
