Reader Confronts Editor

Dear Editor,

I was encouraged by the first part of your article where you showed the personhood of the unborn, but further in the article you said that you didn’t know when life begins. Maybe you don’t know when life begins, but I resent your statement that I don’t. It is clear in God’s Word that life begins at conception. Read Psalm 139. As for the subject of abortion, God did give a stone tablet that commands “You shall not murder.” (Exodus 20:13 NASB)

I was disappointed when you concluded the article by referencing a “wise person” who said, “Make abortion legal for the first three months.” That negates everything you said at the beginning of your article about the personhood of the unborn. As you said, “If a baby is a baby from conception and has personhood, how can there be ANY exceptions? Is a baby somehow responsible he or she was conceived from rape or incest? Is it responsible for the sins of another?” You also said, “According to federal law sea turtles and eagle eggs are protected from the moment they are laid even though they are still technically a fetus. Is a human fetus made in the image of God less than a turtle fetus?”

Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage, Pro-Decency

Dear Editor:

Regarding your last week’s article on unborn babies, you neither mentioned DNA nor Psalm 139. Believers in the Judeo-Christian God believe we are known in the mind of God even before the fertilization of the egg. We also know from DNA, somewhat like our make, model and serial number, what we are, fully human, from the moment of fertilization. God provides the who, as each of us is stamped with His image.

Ironic, isn’t it, that Virginia gun owners are fired up to the point of making national headlines over governor Northam’s threat to all but outlaw private gun ownership, while the pro-life forces seem hardly to be seen or heard.

As of Monday night – 30, and climbing, counties and one town are adopting Second Amendment gun sanctuary resolutions in the face of the now complete democrat takeover of state government and a blizzard of anti-gun bills already proposed for the General Assembly to adopt. How effective such “nullification” becomes remains to be seen. But at this rate I suspect that at least half of Virginia’s localities will adopt such “passive resistance” to the grossly unconstitutional attempts to abolish our God-given Second Amendment rights to self (and others—before the police get to the crime scene) protection.

Though others are involved, like the NRA, the spearhead of the gun-sanctuary movement is the much smaller all volunteer Virginian Citizen Defense League, VCDL dot org of which I am a member.

Were the much larger pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-decency crowd to fight half as hard as we few among gun owners, the war to protect life against the murder of the unborn, protection of real marriage, intact families and Christian morality would have already been won!
