Law Enforcement Seeks Community Assistance to Solve Two Shootings $5,000 Reward Available for Information Leading to Arrests

FARMVILLE – Two shootings have occurred in the Town of Farmville, Virginia within weeks of one another and law enforcement has reason to believe the shootings are related. Farmville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Richmond Field Office are investigating these incidents. The Town of Farmville and ATF are each offering $2,500 rewards for information leading to the arrest of those responsible, for a combined total reward of $5,000.

Leaders from ATF and Farmville Police Department announced the rewards at a press conference alongside the Mayor of Farmville and partners from the Prince Edward Sheriff’s Office, Longwood University Police Department, Virginia State Police, and Prince Edward Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.  

On December 16, 2019 at approximately 9:30 p.m., multiple shots were fired from multiple firearms at the Days Inn, 2015 S Main St. One individual was grazed by a bullet and three vehicles were damaged by gunfire. The second shooting occurred on January 12, 2020 at approximately 9:12 p.m. when multiple shots were fired at the McDonald’s, 306 S. Main St.  No one was injured, but two vehicles sustained damage as a result of the gunfire.

Suspects from these incidents are described as black males who appear to be between the ages of 18 and 30.

Farmville Mayor David Whitus said, “Our law enforcement community works tirelessly to keep our community safe. These two incidents are of great concern for our community. Thankfully, no one has been seriously injured at this point. Please, we strongly encourage anyone with information to come forward. These senseless acts of violence must stop!  Please help our law enforcement continue to ensure the safety of all our citizens.”

Farmville Police Chief A. Q. Ellington stated, “To say that these incidents are disturbing is an understatement and we have a zero tolerance policy for such violence. If you have information about who may be involved, please contact law enforcement. The results of these two shootings could have been so much worse and the individuals responsible need to be stopped. Please help us keep our community safe through sharing information.”

ATF Resident Agent in Charge Scott Fulkerson stated, “Gun violence has serious consequences and the criminals committing these shootings have shown no concern for the safety of this community. We will continue working with our Farmville partners and provide support in any way we can to identify these shooters and get them off the street. It could be your tip that helps us do that.”
