Lady Statesmen Softball Takes District Win Over Amelia

CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Lady Statesmen opened district play on March 28 at home against Amelia. R-H jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning of play on back to back doubles by Danner Allen and Abigail Dixon. Ashley Nelson would later score on a fielder’s choice. R-H put up three more runs in the second on doubles by Alyssa Townsend, Danner Allen and Ashley Nelson.  Up 6-0 going into the top of the third, the Lady Statesmen scored five more runs when Misha Clark and Alyssa Townsend got hits and scored on an Abigail Dixon hit. Allen and Dixon   later scored on a three-run home run by Ashley Nelson. R-H scored one more in the fourth on hits by Summer Jones and Addie Duffer. 

Danner Allen went all five innings on the mound giving up no runs on one hit and striking out 16. Allen had a four strikeouts in the second after a pass ball that allowed a baserunner.
