George F. Worton Obituary

George F. Worton, 91, of Charlotte Court House, Virginia, formerly of Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater, MI.  Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

George was born February 14, 1932 in Bronson, MI to George and Beulah (Milliman) Worton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

George was a Corporate Plant Manager. He worked for General Motors and Tenneco Inc. most of his career.  He spent his childhood in Coldwater and moved several times throughout his career, relocating to Georgia in 1980. After retiring, George still worked full-time as a security guard until he was 82.

Mr. Worton was a devout member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gainsville, Ga. and the American Legion, Post #56 in Jefferson, Ga. George enjoyed playing golf and was a skilled woodworker and an excellent carpenter who could build or fix anything.

George is survived by his children, Todd (Lisa) Worton of Hoboken, N.J., Stacy (Michael Bell) of Charlotte Court House, Va.; his former wife, Janie Worton of Athens, Ga.; his grandchildren, Taylor Worton, Amanda Gowen, Sydney Worton,  Laycee Bell and great-grandson Grayson Olmedo.
