Friday Accident Shuts Down Portion of Route 47 in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE CO. – At 7:22 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 13), Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 47 a half-mile north of Tollhouse Hwy.

A 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling south on Route 47 when it entered a curve and ran off the right side of the road. It then overcorrected, jackknifed, ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

The driver, Deshaun R. Long, 30, of Wilson, N.C., was uninjured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
