It’s that time of year again! Spring is upon us. So what does that mean? It’s time to embrace the beauty of nature and enjoy it in its entirety. What better way to do that than to purchase some fresh-grown produce? Interested? Read on to find out what Southside Virginia has to offer.

ChaseCityProduceOver 60 years ago, “Chase City Produce” was formed as a family business by the parents of Trudy P. Robinette. About 15 years ago, Trudy and her husband, Tim, took over the business to continue a long-standing legacy of providing fresh produce to the community. “Fresh is the way to go,” said Trudy, a lot of the nutrition in produce is lost at the grocery store, which is why Chase City Produce is committed to getting their fruits and vegetables an average of 2-3 times a week to insure maximum freshness.

Trudy explained that a lot of the produce they sell comes from local farmers. The Robinettes also utilize farms based out of Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. In addition to variety of fruits and vegetables, Chase City Produce also provides an assortment of Amish jams and jellies.

While the Robinette family is dedicated to serving the citizens of Chase City with fresh produce, they also are working with the schools systems in Mecklenburg to reiterate the idea that children need to eat their fruits and vegetables. Trudy noted that President Obama has approved a grant for fresh fruits and vegetables, and Chase City Produce is hoping to be a recipient again in the upcoming year.

Trudy and Tim can also be found on Sundays in Clarksville, Va. on Hwy. 58 selling their fresh produce.
