FARMVILLE – The Prince Edward Eagles varsity boys’ basketball team fell to 3-12 on the year last week with a tough loss against Nottoway.

The Eagles got off to a disastrous start with only three points in the first quarter while Nottoway used turnovers and strong defense to jump ahead by 15 points. The Eagles steadied the ship in the second quarter behind the scoring of Sam Detrick and Kaiyou Jones, but still trailed 31-13 at halftime.

The third quarter saw a resurgence by the PE offense as they poured in 17 points and the defense was strong while holding Nottoway to just six points. This made the score 37-30 going to the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was more fast paced offense for Nottoway as they outscored PE by eight points and got the 56-41 victory.

Sam Detrick was the leading scorer for PE while Jones added four points and eight rebounds on the night.
