Court House Resident Dies in Accident

CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – Virginia State Police Trooper B.D. Meeks Jr., is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Charlotte County. The crash occurred at 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, on Route 658, approximately 200 feet west of Route 709.

 A 1995 Ford Mustang was traveling east on Route 658 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree head-on.

The driver, Robert S. Carter, 47, of Charlotte Court House, Va., was transported to the Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, where he died. Carter was not wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
