VICTORIA – The Central Chargers wrapped up their regular football season this past Friday night as they hosted the Goochland Bulldogs. The Chargers got a taste of why Goochland has been moved up to 3A as they overmatched the 1A Central team and cruised to a 61-13 victory.

Goochland took the first possession and marched down the field for a score and 6-0 lead. Disaster struck early for Central as a fumble on the next kickoff was recovered by Goochland, but quite possibly the highlight of the game was a defensive stand by the Chargers on that possession. Kawonte Ragsdale had a tackle for loss on third down and Shamond Sellers had a sack on fourth down to give the Central offense the ball back.

The Chargers soon fumbled again and Goochland strolled in for another touchdown to go up 13-0 early in the first quarter.

The remainder of the first half was more of the same as the Bulldogs scored on every possession the remainder of the half and the Chargers could not get their offense going. Goochland held a 48-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was better for the Chargers as they got touchdown runs from Sellers and Nyjae Carter, while Goochland only scored two more times to take the 61-13 lead.

Central (5-5) will have a bye week this Friday and then prepare for the playoffs. The Chargers could host either Altavista or Franklin if the standings remain the same as they currently are and neither of those teams pulls off an upset win this Friday night.
