Burglaries and Robbery Solved – Five Men Arrested

Five local men have been arrested by the Farmville Police Department following several recent investigations.

On August 14, 2013, a burglary was discovered at The Cash and Carry Convenience Store in the 1600 block of W. Third Street.  Forced entry had been made into the building and a significant amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen.  Subsequent investigation lead police to charge Shawn Jones, age 20, of Prospect and Antonio Tucker, age 25, of Farmville.  Both men were charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny.  They were arrested without incident.  Jones was released on bond, while Tucker remains incarcerated at Piedmont Regional Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

On August 24, 2013, a robbery occurred in the 700 block of E. Second St. while the victim was attending a party.  The victim reported being assaulted and robbed of money and jewelry by three male suspects.  Those suspects were later identified as Sharod M. Patterson, age 20, of Cumberland, Javon A. Smith, age 20, of Farmville, and Duane Austin, age 23, of Farmville.  All three were taken into custody and are being held at Piedmont Regional Jail without bond.

Finally, on October 10, 2013, police responded to a burglar alarm at Marion’s Bi-Rite in the 1300 block of N. Main St.  Officer’s discovered that forced entry had been made into the building and, with the assistance of the Cumberland Sheriff’s Office, quickly identified two suspects. Shawn Jones, who was out on bond from the previous burglary at Cash and Carry, and Sean Blake Jackson Thompson, age 19, of Farmville, were both arrested for Burglary.  It was later discovered that, on the same night, both men had also attempted to break into Baxter’s Convenience Center in the 1000 block of N. Main St.. They were charged with Attempted Burglary and Property Damage for that incident.  Both Jones and Thompson are now being held at Piedmont Regional Jail without bond.
