Arrest Made Following Bomb Threats in Prince Edward County

FARMVILLE – A bomb threat in Prince Edward County last week ended with no bombs or devices discovered. Prince Edward County Sheriff Tony Epps said that the Prince Edward Circuit Court Clerk’s Office received a bomb threat at approximately 8:44 a.m. on February 27, 2023. The Courthouse was evacuated and immediately searched by the Virginia State Police K9’s and Prince Edward County Deputies. No bomb or any explosive device was found, and the case went under investigation.  

As a result of the investigation by the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, a suspect was identified. The suspect, 46-year-old Donta M. Gross of Farmville was arrested and charged with two counts of making a bomb threat. The first threat was on December 13, 2022, and the second threat was on February 27, 2023. Mr. Gross is being held at Piedmont Regional Jail under no bond awaiting arraignment.
