warror-walk-logoCHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness month and to help raise awareness, a ‘Warr;or Walk’ and Candlelight Vigil have been planned for September 17 in Charlotte Court House, from 6-8:30 p.m.

Hosts of the event, Bridgette Malsbury, Dianne Tuck and Anne Waters, who have all lost family members to suicide, planned the event in hopes of making the stigma surrounding suicide less taboo and to make everyone aware.

“Education is the key. The majority of people don’t even know there are ways to prevent, much less ways to raise awareness of, suicide,” said Bridgette Malsbury. “Let’s be their voice, let’s give hope to others who feel like they live in darkness and break the silence!”

Registration for the walk will begin at 6 p.m. at the Charlotte County Administration building parking lot, with the walk starting promptly at 6:30. Upon finishing the walk, participants will receive a candle to join the vigil that will start at 8 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.
