VSP Investigating Fatal Charlotte County Crash

PHENIX – Virginia State Police Senior Trooper L.V. Pambid is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Charlotte County.  The crash occurred May 19, 2020 at 9:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Red House Road.

A 1995 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Route 727 when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to cross over the road, run off the left side and strike a tree.

The driver, John P. Risden, 65, of Phenix, Va., died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. 

The crash remains under investigation.
