VPD Continues To Crack Down On Drinking And Driving

VICTORIA – The Victoria Police Department continues to crack down on drivers who are operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The most recent arrest took pace on Friday night (March 18, 2016) around 11:00 p.m. as VPD Officer Bruneau made a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Main Street and 1St Street.

The initial traffic stop was for defective equipment, but then Officer Bruneau was able to ascertain that the driver may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. At that point, he was able to identify the driver as James Anthony Simmons of Crewe, Virginia.

Officer Bruneau went through the proper tests and then arrested Simmons for DUI, Driving on a Suspended License and Defective Equipment.
