Three Face Drug Charges Following Friday Incident

three-face-drug-chargesVICTORIA – A traffic stop in Victoria last Friday afternoon led to the arrest of three individuals on drug charges. The incident took place as Victoria Police Department Corporal Daniel Medlin and Police Chief Keith Phillips were on patrol in the town. The two officers observed a traffic violation and activated the proper process to pull over the vehicle along Main Street in Victoria.

The traffic stop occurred around 3:44 pm near Subway Restaurant at a residential home beside the business and the two officers noticed a strong drug odor coming from the car.

They began a search of the vehicle with help from the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office. A Virginia Department of Corrections K-9 unit was also brought in to assist with the search that netted a significant amount of marijuana as well as other related items.

Following the traffic stop, search and seizure of the marijuana, several individuals were charged. Jalik Jones of Meherrin, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Lennie E. Coles Jr., of Kenbridge was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

A third individual, Melissa Bentley of Victoria was charged with possession of marijuana. Coles was transported to Piedmont Regional Jail following the charges being issued.
