Third Quarter Defense Leads Eagles Over Raiders

The Prince Edward Eagles Boys Varsity basketball team took on Amelia last week in an important James River District contest. The Eagles would use a big third quarter to pull away and get a 54-43.

PE boysThe teams would both get off to strong starts in the game with the Eagles leading 15-11 at the close of the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, Amelia would answer back and outscore the Eagles by 3 points to send the teams to the half with Prince Edward leading 25-24.

The second half would see several halftime adjustments from the Eagles coaching staff stymie Amelia as PE outscored them 13-2. The Eagles would cruise to a 54-43 victory over the final quarter.

Leading the Eagles in scoring were Kevon Braxton (15 points), Quantavis Nash (13 points), and Nicholas Sims (7 points). Montel Phillips led the team on the boards with 11 rebounds.
