LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors recently offered a resolution to repeal the state of emergency in Lunenburg County that was declared on March 13, 2020 due to the COVID-19 health pandemic.

The resolution notes that on March 12, 2020 the Governor of Virginia declared a state of emergency and that Lunenburg declared a local state of emergency in order to help with emergency operations and other needed plans during that time.

On June 10, 2021, Governor Ralph Northam announced that the 15-month state of emergency in the state would end on June 30, 2021 and Lunenburg followed that action by ending the local declaration as well on the same date.

The official resolution states, “The Board has decided to end the state of emergency in Lunenburg County effective June 30, 2021” and “The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on the 8th day of July, does hereby declare an end to the State of Emergency declared March 12, 2020 due to COVID-19.”
