Students have a way with words: Fuqua, Prince Edward County Crown Spelling Bee Winners

Spelling BeeThe Fuqua School spelling bee was recently held with classroom winners from grades four through eight. The participates were as follows: 8th Grade – Paavan Bonagiri, Eli Keck; 7th Grade – Maggie Encarnacion, Christopher Kendall; 6th Grade- Adin Martinez, Kaitlyn Morgan; 5th Grade – Savannah Stone, Ryan McKay, Jackson Allen; and alternates – Claire Watson, Clay Osborn, Taylor Nichols, Regan Ware, Abby Swanson, Peyton Newcomb, Catherine Rutherford, Luke Gee, Sarah Storm. Paavan Bonagiri was the victor in the championship round with Eli Keck in second place. Paavan participated in the state level private school division and tied for second place. pecms spelling beeAngelo Militello, a 7th grade student, placed first in the Prince Edward County Division Spelling Bee held at Prince Edward County Middle School on February 6.  The winning word was “alcove.”  Noel A. Deppen and Michelle Cheng, also 7th grade students, placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.  Seventeen students in grades 4-8 participated in the Bee, which lasted for 22 rounds.  Competition was tough, and congratulations are extended to all participants!  Angelo will represent Prince Edward County at the Richmond Times-Dispatch Regional Spelling Bee on March 8.  Good luck, Angelo!
