Stove Fire Results in Injured Firefighter

In the early morning hours on Friday, January 24, the Drakes Branch Fire Department was dispatched to what was reported as a chimney fire at a residence on Proctor St.

Upon Engine 6 arriving on the scene, it was discovered that the home was filled with smoke.

Firefighters checked the chimney and fire was found in the stove. It was determined that the stove had malfunctioned and the homeowners were advised to get a new stove.

One firefighter was injured during the call and transferred to the hospital by the Charlotte County Rescue Squad.
