Spirit Ride Rolls Through Charlotte Co.

The Spirit Ride, a nationwide tour of more than 5,000 tow trucks, is winding its way through the U.S. to heighten public awareness of the “move over” law. In 2014 alone, 33 tow truck drivers were killed on the roadside while trying to assist stranded drivers.

The relay-style tour is carrying a casket symbolizing the tow truck drivers and first responders lost. The casket came to the Keysville area Wednesday afternoon and will leave from the Heartland Industrial Park Thursday, carried by Joe’s Towing of Meherrin, after a public ceremony at 11 a.m.

Any tow truck drivers who wish to travel to the next stop in Colonial Heights may leave with the tour from Heartland Industrial Park.
