Single Vehicle Crash Sends Drive to Hospital

Virginia State Police Trooper J.T. Fariss responded to a single-vehicle crash in Prince Edward County April 27. The crash occurred at 5:45 a.m., on Route 360 less than a mile east of Route 654.

A 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling east on Route 360 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver, Richard W. Doyle Jr., 56, of Eden, N.C., was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Doyle was charged with reckless driving. The crash remains under investigation.
