Red Oak Excavation, Southside SWCD to Host Outreach program

Red Oak Excavation will be hosting a meeting for area farmers that will feature Southside Soil and Water Conservation District staff as the key speakers on March 13, 2014. All area farmers are invited to attend to receive information about best management practices that can improve management and production of their farms.

Key best management practices that will be discussed include:

• 100% Reimbursement Program for Stream Exclusion
• Sod Waterways
• Cover Crops
• Converting Retired Cropland to Grassland or Timberland

Staff from Southside SWCD and NRCS will be available to discuss program options and answer producers’ questions. This meeting will be held at Red Oak Excavating, 5192 Barnesville Highway, Red Oak, Va., with refreshments to be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting to begin at 7:00 p.m. on March 13, 2014.
