Chris Martin with Rise Baseball was present during the signing and noted that Vassar is a prime example of a student who has put a lot of effort and hard work into what he wants. “Not many kids sign and scholarships don’t come easy,” said Martin. “It is through a lot of hard work, and he’s one of those kids that put in a lot of hard work….he’s a prime example of a guy who has wanted it. He’s going to be fun to watch at JMU.”

RHHS coach J.R. Allen said, “JMU is getting an excellent guy and player.”

When asked why he chose JMU, Vassar said, “Because they have a very good computer science program and the coaches are very respectful.”

Vassar has played several positions for the RHHS Statesmen’s baseball team including both pitcher and catcher. Several coaches present during the signing pointed out that Vassar is pitching at close to 90mph.
