Randolph-Henry High School Cross Country Battles Heat, JRD Foes

CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Runnin’ Statesmen played host to Cumberland, Nottoway, and Bluestone on September 7. With temperatures in the mid-90’s and a long and hilly course, it proved to be a challenging day for everyone.
Nottoway won the Girl’s race with Randolph-Henry finishing in a close second place. The Girl’s team was led by Alena Latysheva (2nd), Brooke Stoots (7th), Sarah Grissom (8th), and Lindy Newcomb (11th).
The Boy’s race was also won by Nottoway and had Randolph-Henry finishing second. The Boy’s team was led by Chris Nichols (3rd), Nasheim Pettus (4th), and Michael Nichols (6th).
Randolph-Henry will travel to Nottoway on September 14 for a rematch on the Cougars home course. Coach Williams and Coach Schwartz are excited about the opportunity to compete against a higher level of competition in the upcoming weeks.
