AMELIA – The Randolph-Henry Boy’s Basketball team recently participated in the Varsity Boys Quad Rivers Conference Tournament and faced off against another James River District foe.
The Statesmen took on Amelia and after a close first half, fell behind in the third quarter and lost by a 69-57 score.
The Statesmen came out of the gate quickly in the game and led 17-15 at the end of the first half. The second quarter was another evenly matched period as Jordan Jones and Tremaine Pugh each had several buckets. Despite the good play, Amelia grabbed a small halftime lead at 35-34.
The third quarter was all Raiders as their defense clamped down on the R-H offense and helped give Amelia a 50-39 lead heading to the final period. R-H played well down the stretch but the earlier deficit was more than they could overcome, ending their season with a loss on the road.
