R-H Softball Remains Undefeated, Hosting Regional Championship

CHARLOTTE C.H. – Randolph-Henry traveled to Lunenburg to play the final regular season game on June 8.  The Lady Statesmen jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning.  Taylor Trent, Danner Allen and Summer Jones all had extra base hits in the first inning.  R-H added three more runs in the second on hits by Danner Allen, Ashley Nelson and Courtney Harmon.  Taylor Trent, Ashley Nelson, and Summer Jones started the fourth inning with base hits putting R-H up 9-0.  Lunenburg then scored in the bottom of the inning on a RBI double.  R-H finished the scoring in the fifth, scoring two runs on hits by Taylor Trent and Danner Allen.  

Danner Allen went five innings on the mound giving up three hits and striking out nine. This game completed the regular season for the Lady Statesmen.  They finished with an overall record of 11-0 and secured the number one seed in the Region A tournament.

R-H hosted their first regional game in years on Monday, June 14 and finished with a 6-1 win over Nandua. R-H jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning of play on hits by Taylor Trent, Kristina Edmonds and Ashley Nelson. The Lady Statesmen scored one run in the third inning on a lead off triple by Danner Allen and a RBI double by Summer Jones.  R-H scored their final three runs in the fourth inning on three straight hits by Kristina Edmonds, Danner Allen and Summer Jones.  Nandua scored their only run in the top of the seventh on back-to-back hits. Danner Allen took a perfect game into the seventh before she gave up the two hits and only run.  Allen finished the night striking out 14, running her total to 144 for the year.  

The Randolph-Henry Lady Statesmen hosted the Lady Firebirds from Arcadia High School on Tuesday, June 15.  This semi-final matchup was the first time the two teams had met this year.  The Lady Statesmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the third inning on a three RBI double by Summer Jones.  R-H extended the lead to 7-0 in the fourth inning on hits by Tiara Hurt, Misha Clark, Sydney Mason, Taylor Trent and Kristina Edmonds.  R-H threatened scoring again in the fifth on hits by Misha Clark and Courtney Harmon, but was unable to score leaving the score at 7-0.  

Taylor Trent started the sixth inning with a hit followed by a single by Kristina Edmonds and a double by Danner Allen.  Tiara Hurt then hit a single, which knocked in Chastity Dunaway and ended the game with the ten run rule.  Danner Allen gave up three hits and struck out nine.   

The Lady Statesmen will host Windsor for the Regional Championship this Thursday, June 17 at 6:00 p.m.  Tickets for the game must be purchased online in advance at Ticket Spicket.com.
