Statesmen Boys Lose at Home to Goochland in a Nail-Biter Game, Hosts “Senior Night”

isaac bailey billy matthew red jose joeThe Randolph-Henry High School boys soccer team traveled to Cumberland High School on Wednesday, May 15 to take on the Dukes. The Statesmen boys began with an early lead and dominated throughout, defeating the Dukes by slaughter rule, 8-0.

Scoring the first hat trick (three goals during one game) of the season for the Statesmen was Sophomore Isaac Napier. Also scoring for the Statesmen were:

Jose Perez (2)

Billy French (1)

Matthew Poling (1)

Jacob Miller (1)

The Statesmen boys ended a full week of games on Friday, May 17, when they hosted Goochland High School in a nail-biter make-up game. The Statesmen held the top-ranked, undefeated Goochland team in the James River District to 0-0 in the first half, but would eventually lose a hard-fought match-up 3-1, with Isaac Napier scoring a beautiful follow-up goal during the second half of the game for the Statesmen.

Friday was also “Senior Night” for the Randolph-Henry boys soccer team. Seniors were escorted onto the field and recognized for their accomplishments. This year’s seniors are:

Bailey Miller

Jose Perez

Matthew Poling

The Statesmen traveled to Nandua High School on Tuesday, May 21 to compete in the regional quarterfinals.
