Public’s Help Sought in Kenbridge Fatal Hit-and-Run

calvin jonesKENBRIDGE – The Kenbridge Police Department continues to investigate a fatal hit and run incident that took place prior to the July 4th weekend.

The department is exhausting all efforts to find the culprit in this incident and is also seeking any help from the public, including a reward for information that leads to an arrest or conviction in the case.

The Virginia State Police issued the following information on Monday regarding this fatal accident.

“The Kenbridge Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

In the early morning hours of June 30, 2017, a vehicle struck Calvin J. Jones, 53, of Dundas, Va., while he was walking beside the eastbound lane of Fifth Avenue. He was struck directly across from the Kenbridge Emergency Squad building in the Town of Kenbridge.

Police investigators have been able to determine that the suspect vehicle was possibly a Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck or SUV manufactured between 1999 through 2006. The suspect vehicle should be red in color and have damage to the front, right side of the vehicle, to include the light assembly, hood and right fender area.

The Kenbridge Police Department, with the assistance of the Virginia State Police, is investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lunenburg County Crime Solvers 434-696-3100 with any information involving this case. Crime Solvers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.”
