PEFYA gets big winVICTORIA – The PEFYA Minor League All-Stars put together a strong District 5 Tournament run this past weekend and into Tuesday night before falling to the only undefeated team left in the Dinwiddie Nationals.

PEFYA suffered a tough opening round loss to Lunenburg, but rebounded to beat the Dinwiddie Americans in their second contest by an 11-4 final. That game would start off slowly on the offensive end as Austin Queensberry took the mound for PEFYA and worked a perfect first inning with help by a great catch in centerfield from Correy Atkins.

The second inning saw both teams still unable to get on the board despite a single by Andreas Noraas and a hit from Mitchell Holman.

PEFYA got the scoring started in the third inning as Kameron Ligon led off with a single. Hits from Aiden Morgan and Martin Barnett kept the rally going. Eli Timma blasted a single to score a runner and Noah Boehmer doubled in two more to put PEFYA ahead 3-0.

DA would finally get on the board in the third inning with one run, but PEFYA quickly answered back with six more to take a commanding lead.

During the rally, Clevante Watkins led off with a double, Holman and Noraas singled. Harold Landis and Ligon both doubled and Queensberry added a single to give PEFYA a 9-1 lead.

In the fifth inning PEFYA added two more runs as Holman, Noraas and Sawyer Furlong had hits to push the lead and final score to 11-4 in favor of PEFYA.

Next up for PEFYA on Tuesday night was a match-up against the unbeaten Dinwiddie Nationals and PEFYA would play well as they held a 7-5 lead in the fourth inning when storms hit the area and delayed the game.

The delay seemed to ignite the Dinwiddie offense as they would jump ahead 10-8 heading to the fifth inning. PEFYA answered back with a run as Andreas Noraas tripled and scored, but that would be as close as they could get and the DN team took the 12-9 victory to end PEFYA’s tournament run.
