overall record of 12-4. The team went on to compete in the Conference 34 championship at Amelia on January 15 as the #2 seed, winning the tournament and bringing the conference championship home to Prince Edward. The tournament win qualified the Eagles for a VHSL Region 2-A East Tournament bid. The team traveled to Maggie Walker Governor’s School in Richmond on February 8 for the regional finals, but came up short, winning three matches in the round-robin format. The Scholastic Bowl Team was led by co-captains, seniors Haylee Lewis and Sarah Kinzer. Key contributions were made by several other team members.

Prince Edward Scholastic Bowl coach Paul Jenkins couldn’t have been more proud of his team. “This season’s team dealt with many obstacles and difficulties in a respectable, dignified manner. We lost several important members from last year’s Southside District championship team, but these players didn’t miss a beat and kept challenging themselves to get even better. I will always remember the 2013-2014 team as one of the best I’ve coached.” Senior co-captain Haylee Lewis, a four-year starting player, says she will never forget the fun she had as a member of the Scholastic Bowl Team.  “It has been such a cool experience.  We were really good at what we did.  It made me happy to see that all my years of reading, studying, and keeping up with pop culture and current events really paid off.”
