None Dare Call It Slavery

This week I read an article regarding a young woman who has been waiting six years for housing vouchers so that she can rent a home of her own. She has been living with her mother waiting for the Government to give her a place to live. Shortly after receiving the long anticipated housing voucher she received a notice that due to budget cuts her housing voucher was cancelled. She is upset.

During those six years she could have completed college at no cost to her, taken free job training and been able to rent a home without a voucher. Instead she is waiting for the Government.

There are others who rely on the Government for food, shelter, medical care and all of the necessities of life. It is our duty and responsibility to assist those in need and to provide assistance in improving their circumstances.
