Written by on September 10, 2015 at 12:39 pm

logo-wee-notesThe four-year-old kiddies are in school!  Kindergartners remember the teacher’s name and even call you by it at times.  They can share with you some of what they did during the day and may give you the names of a few of their new friends.  When they get home, they are hungry. Starving! Here are a few suggestions for healthy snacks you may like to try via kids’ activities blog.  (Allow your youngster to assist in making them):

Fruit Bars

½ cup honey

½ cup peanut butter

½ tsp ground cinnamon

3 cups Cheerios

¼ cup dried fruit (your choice)

Stir peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon together in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then pour mixture over cereal and stir.  Mix in the dried fruit.

Spread the mixture into a baking pan.  Refrigerate until firm (about an hour).  Cut into bars and sere.

Note:  Place left-over bars individually in snack size zip-close bags. You may send these as part of a lunch you pack, or leave them for another day.

Banana Rolls

2 tsp honey

½ cup peanut butter

Pinch of cinnamon

2 bananas

2 whole wheat tortillas

Wooden skewers, toothpicks, or pretzel sticks

Mix the honey, peanut butter, and cinnamon in a bowl. Spread mixture onto the tortillas. Place a whole banana on each tortilla and roll up. Toast in a pan until golden on each side. Slice into 1/2“ bite-size rounds, and sere with skewers/toothpicks/or pretzels to hold them together and aid in eating.

Fruit Kabobs

Raspberries

Blueberries

Red Grapes

1 orange

1 pineapple

2 kiwis

Skewers

Cut fruit into bite-sized pieces. Place on skewers in bright, fun patterns.

Have a wonderful week. Keep working on being a gentler parent. Happy parenting!
