Murder Suspect Arrested at Kenbridge Motel

On Thursday, January 7, 2016, a group of U.S. Marshals along with local law enforcement from Kenbridge Police Department initiated the arrest of a North Carolina man who was wanted in connection with a murder that took place in Durham during this past November.

P--NealSeveral members of the United States Marshal’s Service used their vehicles to surround a car trying to leave the Budget Inn Motel in Kenbridge during the mid afternoon incident.

They were joined by Kenbridge Police Chief Raymond Hite, and KPD Officers Aaron Peter and Aaron Stokes during the arrest.

According to sources, Rashad Lamon Neal had been at the hotel since December 2015, shortly after the shooting incident in Durham. He was the third person arrested out of four men named as suspects in the death of a man found shot on Scout Drive in mid-November.

This marshal service fugitive task force tracked the 21-year-old Durham native to Kenbridge the Kenbridge location and was able to make the arrest without incident.

Along with Neal, police have arrested Tyquan Demario Nelson, 18, of Durham and Corinthian Eddie Bowens, 16, of Durham. Nelson and Bowens have both been charged with murder and are being held without bail in North Carolina.

Neal was transported to Farmville where he is being held in the Piedmont Regional Jail facility.

Reports indicate that Jonathan McLendon of Durham is the last man detectives believe was involved in killing Paul Jones, 53. Jones was found dead in the 1200 block of Scout Drive about 1 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Despite some rumors that there were local individuals arrested and involved in the incident, Chief Raymond Hite said that there was no arrest by his department during the incident.

The Kenbridge Police Department joined the U.S. Marshals and Virginia State Police in arresting a man wanted for murder at the Kenbridge Budget Inn.
