Meherrin Drug Dealer Convicted

Meherrin Drug DealerLUNENBURG – Jalik Marjhai Jones, age 21, of 3757 Crymes Road, Meherrin, Virginia, was sentenced recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court to an active sentence of two and a half years in prison on three felony drug convictions.  His father, Ronnie Carvel Jones, Jr. was convicted in May of 2016 of two unrelated counts of Distribution of Cocaine for the third time and sentenced to 15 years in prison.  His 19-year-old brother, Tre’Ron Jones, was sentenced this past October to 2 ½ years in prison for his own drug-related felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, Jalik Jones sold cocaine, marijuana and pills to undercover operatives on five occasions from September 2016 through May 2017 in Lunenburg County for $1,020.

Jones had a previous adjudication in 2014 for Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute Greater than 1/2 Ounce on School Property, a felony, and a later conviction in 2017 for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of a Schedule II drug for which he served 12 months in jail.

Clement said the active sentence given by Circuit Judge S. Anderson Nelson is within the recommendation of the Sentencing Guidelines.  

In addition to the time he will serve, the defendant will be subject to conditions of good behavior for 30 years, supervised probation for two years, restitution of $2,980 to the State Police, warrantless searches for five years, and suspension of driver’s license for 18 months after his release.
