On September 1, 2014 Farmville police officers responded to the 200 block of High Street for a report of a male committing an obscene act in public

The complainant, a 21-year-old Longwood University student, reported that she was approached in a bar parking lot on High Street by a middle-age male whom she did not know.  The man asked her to approach his car, which she did, and offered her $100 to watch him sing and dance, and she accepted his offer.  The student reported that he then dropped his pants and put his hands down his boxers and committed a lewd act.  She then stopped him, and he apologized, gave her $20 and left.  She immediately reported the incident to Farmville police.  Police located the man a short distance away and assisted the student with obtaining a warrant for committing an obscene sexual display in public, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Chester Holtyn III, 49, of Powhatan was arrested and released on his own recognizance pending a September 16, 2014 court date in Prince Edward County General District Court.

Police encourage residents to employ reasonable safety measures, especially after dark, and immediately report suspicious people by calling 911.
