LMS Volleyball Beats Cumberland in Straight Sets

LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg Middle School Volleyball team continued to have success in their first season on Tuesday night with a convincing three sets to none win over Cumberland Middle School.

LMS got off to a fast start using steady defense to force Cumberland into errors. After leading 14-6 early on, Cumberland rallied to cut the score to 20-16 late in the first set, but Lunenburg regained control late and took the first set 25-19.

The second set saw Cumberland start off strong and surge ahead 12-6. Lunenburg closed  the gap to 16-14 and then went on a terrific serving run that tied the game at 21-21. The great serving would continue and LMS claimed a 25-21 win in the second set.

The final set saw LMS make some early mistakes on service returns, but they quickly corrected that and took a lead at 15-13. Serving would again be the deciding factor as LMS reeled off 8 straight points on good serves and claimed the 25-18 set win to seal the victory.
