Letter to the Editor

My American Culture

As I write this, my American culture has many enemies for what philosophic reasons they perceive.  We are actually at war either overtly or covertly with ISIS, Al Qaeda, North Korea, Iran, the Taliban, an assortment of Islamic fundamentalist jihadists, China, Russia, and of course, ourselves: Democrats versus Republicans, liberals versus conservatives, anti-fascists versus white supremacists,  historical traditionalists versus historical revisionists, Black Lives Matter versus the white establishment, women versus men, the gay community versus the straight community, Hispanics versus Anglos, Hollywood elites versus the unsophisticated masses, and I’m sure I have not covered them all.  Even the concept of the general good and evil are at play.  There are no winners or losers in these conflicts.  As Abraham Lincoln once said, “A house divided cannot stand.”  As the unsung philosopher Rodney King once remarked, “Can’t we all just get along?”
