Staff Report

brian-scottBrian O’Neil Scott,  a 27-year-old Keysville man, was convicted recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court of Threaten to Burn a Building for remarks he made on a Facebook message to the victim for giving the defendant’s “baby-mama” a ride in his car.  Scott was sentenced to five years with all suspended except four and a half months which he had served awaiting trial.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the victim had saved the Facebook conversation that showed an argument between the two men which escalated to the point that Scott said, “Go ahead and I burn your house down.”  The victim reported that to make matters worse for himself, Scott went to the driveway of the victim’s house and as the victim and his young son were driving away, he threw a rock at the vehicle, just missing it.

Sentencing Guidelines for the conviction called for Probation/No Incarcertion.

Scott’s suspended sentence is subject to conditions of good behavior, supervised probation for one year upon his release, no contact with the victim and his family, searches and seizures.
