James Milton “Pete” Hill

Mr. James Milton “Pete” Hill, 69, entered eternal rest Thursday, February 20, 2014 at VCU-MCV Hospitals and Physicians, Richmond, VA.

Mr. Hill was born in Mecklenburg County, VA August 20, 1944 to the late James Albert Hill and Courtney Ann Morton-Hill Ross. He received his education in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and Newark, NJ and was a member of Lands Chapel RZUA Church in Boydton where he sang in the choir. He was a formerly employed by Grayson and Mitchell Trucking Company, VA Dude and ABC Trucking Company.

At an early age, Mr. Hill married Norma Jones; this union was blessed with one son, Eric Hill. Years later, he married Catherine Austin;this union was blessed with three children, Candace Kennedy, Shauna Hill-Atkinson and K. Sharod Hill. James later wed Shelly Simmons.

Cherishing his memories are his wife, Shelly Simmons Hill of Boydton, VA; his children, Eric Hill, Candace Kennedy (Jarred), Shauna Hill Atkinson (Allen) and K. Sharod Hill (Crystal); 14 grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Williams; 10 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law; his adopted family, the Browns and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. James Milton Hill will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Land Chapel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Julia Fields, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
