It’s Not Just One Day

One of my more annoying habits according to some folks is my optimism. I am like the kid who got a stocking full of horse manure for Christmas and was excited because it meant there was a horse nearby.

I believe every day is wonderful if you will let it be wonderful. I believe in being thankful all day-every day.

If you are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving and are going to list all of the things for which you are thankful you might be getting it wrong.

Thanksgiving is a national day of celebration featuring family, food and giving thanks, but it shouldn’t be just for one day.

All of us have daily blessings-daily things for which we can be thankful-and all too often we forget them in the daily grind.

As we often say in my family, “It is hard to remember you are trying to drain the swamp when you are up to your butt in alligators.” But even “up to your butt in alligators” there are things for which to be thankful. The water could be colder and muddier and the alligators could be larger and hungrier.  Be grateful they aren’t. Be grateful you have a swamp to drain. Be grateful there is a reason to drain the swamp.
