Staff Report

P--Kathleen WilliamsThere was a discovery by a hunter of remains in Lunenburg at the end of 2016 that are believed to be that of missing Kenbridge woman, Virginia Edmonds. While local law enforcement is still waiting on confirmation from state lab sources, another disappearance continues to be a mystery.

Monday marked one year since the disappearance of Kathleen Williams from her home in Victoria. Much like the Edmonds case, state and local law enforcement were joined by search teams that scoured the area where Williams was last seen, but to this point there have been no further developments in this sad story.

Unlike the Edmonds case where a car was discovered following the disappearance, there have been no additional clues in the search for Williams. Victoria Police Chief Keith Phillips said recently that he hopes to see some resolution to this case in the future, but to this point there has been none.

He noted that the department has checked out different tips and calls, but none have turned out to be valid at this point.

Kathleen Williams was last seen around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 when her husband left their home on 10th Street in Victoria and went to a local store. When he returned from the shopping trip around 4:00 p.m. he came in the home and realized that she was not there.

According to information from the family, her pocketbook and wallet, along with other items that she would normally carry, were still at the home location.

Along with the local search efforts, Kathleen Williams was entered into the National Missing Persons Registry.

Chief Phillips said that walking trails and the wooded areas leading in the Nutbush direction and all the way toward Route 635 in the Kenbridge direction were searched. The hunters in the area were also contacted by local police and were on alert that Williams was missing when the incident took place. There was no family vehicle home at the time of the disappearance so she could not have driven from the home. There have also been no unusual transactions from bank accounts and no signs of where she could have gone or how she went.

The investigation continues and anyone who may have information on the disappearance is asked to call Crime Solvers at 434-321-3100.

Williams is described as a 5’5” white female, age 53 at the time of the disappearance and weighing approximately 150-160 pounds. She has hazel eyes and curly auburn colored hair.
