Inmate Dies of Apparent Suicide at Charlotte County Jail

The Virginia State Police are investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Charlotte County Jail.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department, 38-year-old  Roscoe Routt was found unresponsive on Sunday, December 27 at the jail.  CPR was in progress when EMS crews arrived. Routt was pronounced dead at 6:34 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s department, no foul play is suspected in Routt’s death. Routt had been in custody at the sheriff’s Department for about a month.
