Hometown Hero Fills a Community Need

KENBRIDGE – The law firm of Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen recently announced their Hometown Heroes for the current year.

Representatives from the business stated, “We are excited to reveal the 2020 Allen & Allen Hometown Heroes! The 28 outstanding individuals were selected from across the state of Virginia.”

The heroes this year were recognized for making a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the people recognized was Cameron Bailey, preacher at Kenbridge Christian Church. At a time when everything was forced to close, Cameron went above and beyond to not only offer a way to have the people from his church gather on Sunday, but everyone in the community. He along with friends set up a scaffold at the Lunenburg Girls Softball League field in Kenbridge where he was able to preach to listeners while they stayed safely in their vehicles.

He also helped Central High School by hosting their Baccalaureate Service in a drive-in fashion prior to graduation.

Cameron stated, “I just want to say that we are loving seeing people and churches coming together and worshipping as one family. It’s been the greatest thing and fills several with the hope needed each week.  It’s a humbling honor as I don’t feel I have done anything out of the ordinary.”

He said that he saw a need in the community and “jumped on it to make sure needs were met as I felt that’s what folks are supposed to do.”

He continued, “We knew online services weren’t an option for all our folks so we began drive-in back in March in order to make sure our communities were spiritually fed while establishing a food pantry in March in our open prayer room to make sure everyone was physically fed as well.”
